Lip fillers are generally used to give your lips a plump appearance. People who want to give their lips a more attractive and fuller appearance opt for lip fillers. Dermal fillers are a cosmetic procedure of injecting biological and synthetic chemicals to specific parts of the lips to add volume to the lips. You might have done your lip fillers and got satisfactory results, but you might feel some side effects due to the dermal filler. Side effects can include swelling and bruising in your lips as the procedure can include multiple injections. So it is better to take some precautions and aftercare to manage the side effects. 1. Applying ice
After the lip filling procedure, you can have swellings and visible redness on your lips for about two weeks. To prevent the after effects, you should apply ice to your lips. Don’t let bare ice touch your skin or lips, as that can irritate you. Instead, use an ice pack or a cloth wrapper to compress your lips. Keep applying the ice pack throughout the day after your dermal filling.
2. Creams or ointments
If you feel bruising on your lips after the treatment, you can apply aloe vera, arnica cream, and vitamin K to your lips to avoid the bruising.
3. Avoid extreme temperature
Avoid any extreme temperature, be it cold or hot, after at least 48 hours of the dermal filling. Don’t go to places like saunas, steam baths, or places where the temperature is too hot. Avoid extreme cold temperatures too after lips filling.
4. Avoid strenuous exercises
Avoid vigorous exercises that stress your body for at least 24-48 hours after the treatment. Your blood pressure rises during strenuous exercises, which can cause more bruising and other side effects like swelling of the lips.
5. Avoid long flights
The atmospheric pressure in the air is much more, which can cause increased side effects on the lips, like swelling and bruising. So avoid long flights which can go for more than 3 hours for at least two weeks after the procedure.
Here are some precautions and aftercare you must take after your dermal filling treatment. But there is other aftercare as well. Stay hydrated, drink more water, don’t apply chemicals and make-ups to your lips, and try to protect the lips from any outer harm as much as possible for at least 7-14 days.
